Responsibilities of CNA

Being a CNA is a very responsible job. It require a lot of efforts, patience, physical and mental strength and calmness. CNAs are responsible for the direct care of the patient and so they spend more time with patient than anyone else. They face more challenges in their life.

There are a number of duties and wide varieties of responsibility that a certified nursing assistant have to deal with. Certain numbers of responsibilities include daily involvement and some other could be deal time to time.

Here are some of the most basic Duties and Responsibilities of Certified Nursing Assistant:

  • Patient’s Direct Care
  • Take and record the vital signs like temperature, blood pressure, respiratory system etc
  • Helping patient in dressing, grooming, walking, feeding etc
  • Transfer the patient from need to wheelchair and vice versa
  • Assist patients in eating, bathing, reading
  • Disciplined medication
  • Assisting with bedpans
  • Changing the linen
  • Monitor and record the health of the patient
  • Report any variance in health of the patient
  • Follow the precautions for infectious disease
  • Collect specimen
  • Ensure the safety of patient
These are some of the basic responsibilities of CNA that you would learn in your on-job CNA training program but there are some very basic and simple responsibilities that a CNA should follow while assisting their patients like basic hygiene and personal hygiene is very important to prevent any kind of infection, maintain the proper documents and reports of the patient, effective communication.
