CNA in Alabama

CNA training has different provisions according to their states like in every state you will find different durations, standards and examinations. If you want to be a Certified Nursing Assistant in your state then you have to prepare and take admission according to your state’s provision.

Alabama offers you CNA training from many different technical or vocational colleges or community colleges or nursing facilities etc. First of all make sure that the program you have chosen is approved by the Alabama department of Health.

Requirement for CNA training in Alabama:

Other then the physical strength to stand for hours, run and work continuously and some more personal qualities like calmness, patience and willingness to do every sort of work their are some more requirements that you have to fulfill:

Usually CNA training in Alabama does not require the high school diploma or GED. An individual can pursue the CNA in Alabama while pursuing their high school
CNAs should be of 16 years of age at least.

These are the minimum requirement for CNA which is mandated by Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1987. It includes classroom CNA training and on-job training as well.

CNA training program is designed to teach the theory and critical skills of a CNA to an individual. Theory includes all the basic knowledge about nursing assistant course and where as on-job training includes the essential skills and direct patient care which they have to conduct under the supervision of a Licensed or Registered Nurse.

Duration of CNA training program in Alabama:

CNA training program are of 12 weeks or less.

CNA Certification in Alabama:

Depending in your classroom and on-job CNA training there are two tests that you have to clear in order to be a successful CNA. These two tests are:

Written Test
On-hand Skills Test

Written Test:

Written test includes all the questions related to your theory and material provided in your classroom CNA training. This written test is conducted under the supervision of the Licensed or Registered Nurse RN or LPN.

Skill Test:

Skill test includes all the basic clinical training tasks which include all basic nurse care, diagnosis, record and maintenance of patient health, grooming and dressing etc. Usually skill test is supervised by Licensed or registered Nurse. You have to perform any 3 to 5 task out of total 25 to 30 tasks done in the on-job CNA training.

If you clear these then you will get your CNA certification from the state. After which you just have to check out the opening in clinics, hospitals, old age homes or nursing homes etc.
