CNA Certification

For CNA job you have to prove that you have the ability and you know the medical facilities and procedures of clinic, which you learn at the CNA certification. In order to become a CNA you have to pass the CNA certification test. CNA certification is designed to evaluate the knowledge and skill of an individual. Most of the states allow an individual to attend CNA certification examination three times in the two years duration after the completion of the CNA training program.

CNA certification is a simple procedure under the provisions of the state. Here is the step by step procedure to guide you for CNA certification:

CNA Training:

First of all you have to attend the CNA training which will train you both theoretically and practically for the CNA certification. CNA training has some hours of class room in which you will study theory and you will receive handouts and text books. RN will be supervising your class room training. After completion of class room training you have to complete the clinical or on-job training which also have some particular hours according to your state provision. You have to learn and do the clinical and all basic nurse jobs under the supervision of RN.

CNA Certification Test:

After the completion of your CNA training you have to attend the CNA certification test in order to register yourself in the state and get the CNA certificate of your state.

CNA certification test contain two parts:

  • Written Test: Every state have their own pattern of CNA examination but on an average a written test consists of 70 questions. The passing percentage also depends on your state provision.
  • Skills Test: In the second exam individual have to show their clinical skills and ability to perform all of the different skills. Most of the states have the same pattern in skill test; they will give you 5 hands on skills to perform from a particular number of skills. Individual will be graded on the basis of the performance.
Individual have to clear both CNA examinations in order to receive the CNA certification.

If Individual Fail in CNA Certification Exam:

Most of the states permit an individual to attend the CNA certification examination three times in two years after the completion of the CNA training program. You still have two chances. If you have failed in both written and hands on skill then you have to retake the exam and if you have failed in only one either in written or hands on skill test then have to retake one only.

If you have missed all three chances then you have to re-train in CNA training program.
